    Long, skinny probe

I needed an extra long electrical probe to reach deep into a confined channel; my existing probes weren't long enough and were a bit too fat.

An 8" length of # 10 (0.080" diameter since wire gauges are useless) electrical wire, a spade lug plug and a banana plug...

were assembled into a very serviceable extra-long probe...

In my post about optimizing test leads....

    Optimizing VOM leads

I described how I'm gradually converting all my electrical test gear to work with coiled test leads fitted with banana jacks. The banana plug on the probe means it can be used with the VOM as well as continuity testers, etc.

    Before the safety nazis arrive...

The bit of exposed metal on the spade plug wasn't a danger in the first use which was checking continuity on an unpowered device. I will cover it with some shrink tubing before it's added to the probe box.

Chuckle. The average Usonian can't convert 20 cm to inches so I cater. Btw, it's 'inferial', not 'inferioral'.
