Bottle tops

Do you think it is too much to ask that bottle/jar etc containers could standardise threads and cap sizes?

I know I am a bit disorganised. I frequently lose a lid and sometimes it’s quicker to search through a box of salvaged ones. This time, I had to go to a bigger box, the tin, where I keep bungs. The missing lid is probably below the sandpit there.
