A Power Feed For a Horizontal/Vertical Bandsaw Vise

My bandsaw is the most used power tool in my shop. That vise jaw must be moved before each cut. To make this task less tedious, I have added a hex drive. Now, I use my electric screwdriver to position the jaw quickly.

I've often thought of doing something similar but haven't been able to find any round toits in the scrap bin.

For your entertainment I'll share my gedanken-approach...

Select a suitable Torx bit, e.g. a T-30 which has a diameter of about 0.208"

Drill a suitably undersized hole in the end of the leadscrew. I would probably try a # 6 drill (0.204") or a # 7 (0.201)

Using a suitable BFH, drive the Torx bit into the hole leaving the 1/4" hex end exposed and awaiting the electric screwdriver.

Either we are alone in the universe, or we are not. Both possibilities are equally frightening.

"BFH" - now THAT would be a great homemade tool!
