Though you can't really see it, adhered to the bottle is a 'wood graining tool' (look it up). The bottle is just a convenient and cheap handle for the tool. Still, the results are not too bad...

Wonder if that is water or oil-based stain? I'm guessing water, since oil would rapidly soak-in.
