Not a list of instructions, but enough detail in the photos for anyone who would like to give it a try. The main body is made from 3" bolted pipe flanges. Nice thick machineable steel, I had to do something useful with it.
The only thing not repurposed or scrap-sourced was the three 3/4" conduit couplings. I paid cash money for those, about $6.50 if I remember right. It's been on the back burner for a while, but I found myself needing to turn a clean shoulder on some 3" cast iron, so the steady rest got moved to the front of the project queue. It performed very nicely. Rock solid and smooth turning.
