Nice little milling vise from Sherline. Just the right size for this small foot print mill.
I added a work stop and mounting holes for it (10-32) in the vise. Both sides of the vise are drilled and tapped
so the stop can be used on either side. Two mounting positions on each side. One down low and one up high.
The clamp is aluminum and will probably need a nut added as it wears. Might even make one from brass.
The rods are .187" drill rod and only one is threaded. Just used a die for the tapping. Not shown but there is a slot (.125") through the clamp from hole to hole. The clamp is .375" thick and with the slot it functions nice with the clamp.
Pair of brass jaws. Every vise needs some extra jaws. I just copied the original jaws using some "scrap brass". (no such thing in my shop, I save all the little chunks that get cut off.
Vise clamps. These clamps are designed to fit with the 2.5" spacing of the major portion of the 10-32 tapped holes in my mini mill tooling plate.
There is a relief of .015" on the bottom for proper clamping. The blocks just fit the groove in the vise. Again aluminum was used and clearance
holes for 10-32 screws. Screws were selected to leave about .100" at the bottom of the holes in the pallet. The clamps will also work on the mill table T-Slots if not using the mini pallet.
That's about it. Getting close to using the little Sherline!
Cheers, JR
