Thanks. I worked at Cooper Air Tools down the road from there for 4 years. I left there to work at Michelin. Cooper changed its name to Cooper Power Products (something like that). I guess they were bought up by some other company. Man, I sure learned a lot about cutting tools while I was there.

I glanced at the two TubalCain videos on these and the surface finish is amazing! Are they just for finishing cuts, or can they remove bulk material too?

Finishing cuts only, they can only remove a tiny amount of material.

You would not use them for roughing.

I'm pretty certain it isn't possible to use them as rougher as the cut becomes way too wide and needs a load of power to actually drive machine.
Maybe in an industrial setting with 50hp motors but not for normal machinery.
It is often used to remove a few ten-thousandth's of inch though where it looks like it's just polishing but is actually cutting a tiny amount
