I used 10 mm ~ 3/8 inch thick and 1 inch wide and 9 inch long flat aluminium bar,I used the stainless steel inserts from the 90 degrees guide jig that I purchased before, so I was very happy to be able to add an extra use case for these stainless steel inserts of various sizes. Most of the time I will be using 9 mm dowels, which I have, but I can use smaller or bigger dowels should I need to.The dowelling jig required precision marking and drilling, to ensure the jig's accuracy. The principle the jig is based on is very basic: the bolts which are perpendicular to the aluminum bar, are used as stoppers on both side walls of the material, thus centering the stainless steel insert on the edge of the material. I tested the jig, and it is very accurate, and I will use it in every next project for the boards glue-ups and anywhere the dowels are deem fit.
