Wasn't much oil being slung about. There is a Russian Youtube channel with voiceover by BMI Russian for English speakers called Garage 54 that does all sorts of things, mainly for training purposes,(wish I'd had an apprenticeship like that),which is well worth a look if you have not heard of it.
https://www.youtube.com/c/Garage54ENG Click on the videos button to see what has been done. Very interesting even for the jaded.

It is just idling, the oil flow greatly increases as RPM's climb. For extended MAX RPM operation, we always enlarged and smoothed the oil return passages to allow the oil to flow back down so the the oil pump would not starve because too much oil was hanging around under the valve covers.

Oil galleys was one thing a lot of builders failed to pay much attention to, you can have the deepest widest highest capacity oil pan that will fit and the highest volume oil pump in the world but if the oil can't get back to the pan it is all for nothing

I watched one video of theirs where they put several flywheels one at a time on an old Lada to see what would happen. I had forgotten about them. Thanks for reminding me.

Yeah, spent most of my working life on vehicles of one kind or another and of course had the required stint building go fast stuff for others not just myself.
In the local TACCOC series one of our cars got banned for "being uncompetitive" as in being too quick, it was like Smokey Yunik said " If it ain't in the rule book it doesn't apply". Couple of rally cars had to go into other classes as well so I have a little understanding of oilflow.
