Sawing Thin Tall Stock in a Horizontal Bandsaw

If you ever try to saw 1/8” plate in a horizontal bandsaw, you will find that it tends to vibrate if the stock is a lot taller than the jaws of the vise. here is how I solved this problem.

Some uncritical thoughts on the subject...

With the saw in its vertical orientation you would have support under the workpiece near where the cut was being made. I assume you have some reason for not using this mode.

Another stiffening approach would be to sandwich the steel between two pieces of stiff wood (e.g. 3/4 plywood) just to the left of where the cut is made and then clamp this sandwich near the top with a C-clamp or similar. The whole sandwich would be clamped in the saw vise. With some thought to sizing, the wood could be saved and used again when a similar cutting job arises.
