    What a waste of some perfectly good weapons, that is almost as sacrilege as adding picatinny rails all over an M1 Garand so that red dots, night vision scopes, laser pointing, USB, wifi, cameras,and black nylon furniture to it just because someone thinks it is tac cool.

    They are just tools Frank S. and are still just as functional as the originals. I suggest that most WW2 users of M1 Garands would have gladly swapped them for one with better sights and plastic wood. As collectables the gold plating has increased their value. A gold plated Crescent Wrench is just as useful if not better than a chrome plated one.

    Not to me. Gross embellishment of firearms (beyond fine engraving) indicates a lack of real confidence, a weak ego. The situations of tbier demise reinforces that.
