    Rotary tool attachment modification

Some readers may be familiar with Dremel's EZ Lock setup for cutting wheels and other attachments. It is a spring-loaded keyed mandrel/arbor that accepts keyed wheels. The spring is soft enough to allow the cutters to be easily changed without tools, but not really stiff enough to reliably hold the wheel perpendicular to the shaft in some situations. This can result in a broken cutting wheel.

A small piece of rubber hose between the collet nut and mandrel helps. This one is 3/16" (5mm) ID and 5/8" (16mm) long.

I have some of these products. I haven't had any issues but I have not used them much. I will keep your idea in mind. Thanks.
