It's called the Enlil Turbine by Devetech and started in Turkey. The overall concept is that it has a solar panel on top of a Vawt that is placed in the center divide of roadways so the oncoming traffic in both directions spins the VAWT. They will generate about 1KW and also house sensors for temperature, humidity, wind and CO2 levels and deliver data through an IOT system.
Thoughts that came to mind when I saw this was to use it next to light rail or even in subways perhaps. With strings of these in key places they could develop 100kw easily and provide real time data on the conditions as well as mount bloody cameras on them for track and road conditions.
Hemingway, thought it was about time as I had thought of this idea about a decade ago while doing some VAWT designs. Getting city, county's, states and country's on board always brings the bureaucrats photo ops and opportunity to make new taxes to pay for them...but a darn good Idea imho.
Warning: Turn the sound off right away! Most irritating.
