This is a rideon mower I built nearly 40 years ago. It was made from parts I scavenged from the local rubbish dump. The motor was a combination of parts from 4 and 5 hp B&S motors, the gearbox came from a Rover, the seat from a tractor and the large blade surround from the dump. The wheels I bought new from a hardware, sprockets from a bearing and seal shop and the remaining gear: chassis, clutch, steering, etc I designed and made myself. I used this mower for close on 35 years, eventually dismantling it and dumping it. After 35 years use it still worked as well as it did when I first made it but I had no further use for it as we don't have lawns anymore. It was a very good conversation starter for people walking by, particularly with our little Chihuahua perched in his box up front, couldn't mow the lawn without him. I fitted a catcher shortly after these pictures were taken.
