trying to make a pipe wrench out of an adjustable commonly called a crescent wrench to me makes about as much sense as trying to use an open end wrench as a ratchet, whist is to say none at all. Thank you just the same when I need a pipe wrench that is what I will use

Normally I'd agree, depending on pipe wrenches for pipe work. Have them from 8" to 48" and small variety of chain tongs. I'm not so enthralled by a mere convertible adjustable wrench.

This however, is quite handy. Not only a 3/8" equivalent set of pass-thru sockets, reversible two sided ratchet, common adjustable wrench of 3/4 capacity, and switches to pipe jaw. Definitely unsuited to medium size plumbing, it IS far narrower than comparable capacity pipe jaws. Crescent® of course.
Under those packaging machines; leveling screws, all thread, small air lines, general 3/8" and 1/2' bolt hardware, it made specialized tools less convenient such as deep sockets, regular wrenches, and so on. Occasionally, needed a second pipe wrench for unions or couplers.
