    Retrofuturistic workshop+car in one

Retrofuturistic workshop+car in one. Retrofuturism is a design trend or a cultural aesthetic that focuses on depictions of the future as portrayed in a previous era. For example, steampunk is one flavor of retrofuturism.

Anyway, here's a retrofuturistic gem from Bruce McCall's Zany Afternoons, still valid today as an internet pun machine.

The Finns on the back are a nice touch , But isn't anyone worried about the second hand Smoke from the Guy's pipe ? I suppose it depends on what's in it . Just kidding I second hand smoke a pack a day.
And I second "No woman driving my Man cave on wheels around" ,Also I'd be too nervous handling Sharp while in motion .

So, she'd be "99"? Only thing--where is his cellphone? She has only one joy stick.

Here in Aussie land General Motors displayed a car of the future sometime during the late 60's. I did have a picture of it but sometimes you have to cull. The driver was in the lying down position.

[ref web search offered here included unrelated content. So, just google Time Magazine, 50 Worst Cars. Hilarious read on it's own!]

Our neighbor Helen, or was it Matilda, always quite a dish. Now she's lasagna...

    "Peel Trident (1966)

Less a car than a 5th-grade science project on seed germination, the Peel Trident was designed and built on the Isle of Man in the 1960s for reasons as yet undetermined, kind of like Stonehenge. The Trident was the evolution of the P-50, which at 4-ft., 2-in. in length could justify its claim as the world’s smallest car, or fastest barstool. The Trident is a good example of why all those futuristic bubbletop cars of GM’s Motorama period would never work: The sun would cook you alive under the Plexiglas. We in the car business call the phenomenon “solar gain.”
You have to love the heroic name: Trident! More like Doofus on the half-shell."

Couldn't pick which pic the best, treat yourself. But halfway down is one of these staging at a dragstrip.

The orange one looked like a Peel. Thought I saw a british show test drive one of 'dem things, & low & behold there he was near the end. Reminds me of a time a car enthausist friend was visiting at my parents', and leaving he went to do a wheelie outside my parents place (1970 or 71). He had a Vauxhaul Viva and hadn't noticed my other mate & I had lifted the rear end off the ground. He kept accelerating and finally I nodded to Gary (my other mate) and we dropped the rear end & the Viva almost toppled over as it got traction. Great FUN.
Those were nothing like the space age (BIG) futuristic GM car: it was at least as long as a Chevelle or Mustang: maybe longer.

Cheers & thanks for posting = very entertaining. HATE CITY CARS but they have their place.
