    Retired Army Home project maker

Just someone looking for something to do in their spare time and as the old broken body allows. I usually work from 15 minutes to an hour and have to take a break. So any short project is great for me. I do wood working, metal working with 30 Amp Plasma cutter and Millermatic wire feed welder. I do brazing as I like the contrasting colors in metal work. That about sums it up. Work out of my garage in a little town outside Springfield Mo.

Sounds as though you're keeping busy. What sort of homemade tools have you made along the way?

What's next on your project list?

I prefer the old fashioned welding method of Brazing. I was really good at it 20 years ago. In doing that a 3rd and sometimes a 4th hand is needed to get smaller projects held in just the right spot to braze. So I was sitting here today thinking I need a couple articulating holders. Tomorrow I am off to the local Habitat and a few other rehab places in town looking for devices I can turn into those holders. I am all about saving a buck. Will let you know how the search goes and if I find what I need I will pic and put in here the process I used with end result. I have been working with wife making metal art projects and she never really knew the idea of brazing, she uses a Hypotherm 30xp Plas and Millermatic 211 welder. Now that she has seen the diff colors at joints, she understands why I tell her that on her birds the Bronze colored metal would be great to put the wings together with.
