Repairing The Wheel Axle On a KitchenAide Top Rack

What do you do when faced with replacing a part that has a design defect. If you buy the part, it is likely you will be buying it again when it fails. But if you rebuild the part so it no longer has the defect, it should last a lot longer. I'll give you a hint about this article: it is not about how to buy defective replacement parts.

    Rick,
Nice improvement. I have a Bosch dishwasher and had to make some minor changes but overall it runs well. The thing I like about the Bosch model is its small red spot light on the bottom of the dishwasher door and it shines on the floor when the dishwasher is running. The light spot is about the size of an @ on your computer keyboard and not very intrusive. The Bosch dishwasher doesn't make much noise and I could accidentally open the dishwasher when it is running. The small red spot light shining on the floor warns me the dishwasher is running. I would think retrofitting other brands of dishwashers with these small floor focused spot lights would be pretty easy to do since all the controls and power is already there inside the dishwasher door.
    Regards, Paul

Great explanation and breakdown of the problem and solution. It's a no brain-er.... buy another piece of crap.... or fix the piece of crap indefinitely.
