I was on a site about a decade ago. There was a subcontractor pulling about a kilometer of 72" belt for a conveyor. They had a reasonably large steel rod they were using as a pivot in the middle of a wooden spool they wound the old belt onto. They couldn't get the pin out. So what they did was attach a sling from the pin to trailer hitch of the truck, and then drive full speed away from the pin. It damn near lifted the truck off the ground when the sling tensioned up. I was watching them do this over and over for about 15 minutes. Not once during that entire time did any of those morons realize that if they were actually successful the pin would fly out and probably through the back window of their truck.
I feel like those guys started working for the city removing manhole covers after that job.
