    Removable hoist pendant

On my gin pole and hoist rig there was a n old and partially failing pendant on a short lead. The only way the thing would work was the double switches had to be out of the case NOT safe with so many exposed live wires So in one of my more splurging moods I ordered a new pendant.
This got me to thinking as long as I am going to change out the pendant why not extend it so I can use it either from on top of the building of from the ground. The lead has 7 wires and I'm the king of 7 wire stuff I always keep a couple coils of 12ga 7 THHN or SJOW on hand to rewire semi trailers with. I started digging around for the cable then decided when I need to store the hoist I didn't want to have to have the 50 ft long stiff coil of cable to contend with this caused more digging into my seemingly endless amount of stored away goodies. First I found a socket for a semi trailer that thing would be worth 50 bucks plus install I thought maybe more since it is the rare 7 + 7 duel connector assembly used mostly on trailer requiring more circuits than a normal semi but a standard round 7 pin connector would still fit in the center. I really wasn't keen to using it also I would have had to water prof the back side and it would require a beefy mount. Then I looked in another bin and found an RV plug set up. Used but still serviceable and to top it off totally encased in a plastic housing and sealable to the cable.
So this is what I wound up with the socket on the lead the pendant and plug on opposite ends of a 50 ft length of 7 wire cable

Can't see why not. Don't forget to suspend pendant by wire rope to relieve tension on connector and motor terminals.
    But you know that, friend.

it is hard to see in the picture but the pendant has a built in strain relief that required being submerged in boiling water for 15 minutes to soften the rubber shell enough to slip it over the outer covering of the 7 wire trailer cable it was a 1 time shot to get the rubber sleeve slid over the cable and as soon as it cooled with the bonding agent I used it was more or less like being vulcanized to the cable covering. It was a good thing I had thought to slide the retainer on the cable first otherwise I would have had to slide it along the 50 ft length to bolt it in place. the trailer cable I use has the nylon outer covering and is abrasion and cut resistant tougher than nylon DOT airbrake lines. The up side is it wont hang on sharp edges the downside is it is not as flexible as a heavy duty extension cord
