Speaking of Eiffel Tower design inspiration, here's the Creusot Steam Hammer on the left, and the Eiffel Tower on the right. The Creusot Steam Hammer was the largest and most powerful steam hammer in the world, and it was, coincidentally, built 10 years before the Eiffel Tower in the French town of Le Creusot. Just sayin'

Judging from the rejects, they got the final design right. I like that hammer also.

yes but what good was it? Having seen it I really can't tell if it is any more than a glorified antenna. I didn't go up inside of it mostly because I don't do the touristy thing very often, the other was a time factor I landed at the Charles DE Gaulle airport, picked up the rental car and I couldn't get out of Parris fast enough.
Never try to tell me it can't be done

Eiffel was the designer/engineer for the so named tower. Looking at the rejected designs, everyone is by a different contestant. That makes me think, had another entrant won, would we still call it the Eiffel Tower?
