    reduced shank drill

needed 18mm drill bit for a job this aft, then remembered hadnt replaced mine after it went missing.
found one in box of large bits that wre going skip at old place thatwere all taper bits.
so stuck it in lathe and turned shank down to 1/2" to match my others.
will have to get around to doing the other 40 or so bits

Often the shank is softer than the drill so you can reduce them or otherwise machine them.
