I found my vise handle to be very annoying to use.
Fixed it this way:
Some time ago someone posted something similar.
Didn't absolutely understand everything what was made, because of my ability to understand spoken English.
So i made this in my way.
But, thanks for the idea!

You might be thinking of this one: Simple Bench Vise Mod by Retro Steam Tech.
Yours is a nice development of that idea. Multiple positions, plus the full-circumference groove instead of a detent.

Grooves on the handle, are sharp edged.
As is the head of the locking pin.
This keeps handle locked to its place, until pin is released.

This is a significant upgrade on an idea from a previous winning tool, Retro Steam Tech's Vise Handle Modification, and was even upgraded again today. It will be interesting to see this idea progress; I wonder if one-handed adjustment is a feasible evolution.

No dispute a semi-fixed handle is worthwhile. Handle size partially determines whether friction or detent is needed, variables are in friction and area of contact. A detent can be 'tuned' also. Shallow is fine, trick is in shape of the plunger; whether contacting depth of groove or the edges, not both. When point touches, it locates easily with decent retention. When edges touch, that gets more positive. When both touch, contours cam out of place too easily. Another distinction is between ball or plunger detents; properly fitted, plungers have better alignment, where the sphere is forgiving.
Anyway, clamping-wise once that is in place, the next best mod is loading the vise screw for near zero backlash. Take up thrust with short stiff coil spring and decent flat washers. The handle will stay in any clock position you need while jaws are open.
Far easier than sprouting or grafting a third arm.
Not to mention ensuing wardrobe issues.
