Where did he find that backstop clutch?

I bought some sprag clutch ratchets a while ago. They're a bit specialty but they're very handy when you need them. A normal ratchet can need quite a substantial amount of rotation to engage. Sprag clutch ratchets require almost no rotation to engage, maybe a couple of degrees. So they're great when you're in a tight spot under an intake manifold or something and a normal ratchet won't work.

Agreed about the roller clutch, especially being tied to a drive sprocket. Suggesting to run Google Lens on a still shot of it.
In mid 50's there was such a wrench, in nearly identical proportions to that in video. 1/2" square had socket retaining plungers.
The homemade versions torque limitation will fall on the hot-roll bar stock, with hardly any Rockwell hardness. A stub of cold chisel might do well.
