quick heat sink for cooling parts

When I am grinding small parts by hand, I need to cool them off when they become too hot to hold onto, It seems I never have a quenching container of water handy so for me the next best thing is to lay the part on a thick piece of aluminum then sandwich with a heat sink on top of it this draws the heat off quick enough to continue grinding for me anyway.
