I think that laser distance meters are cool. The idea that you can accurately determine distance without fumbling with a tape measure is an amazing capability. Yet, at $60, I remain satisfied with my 25 foot steel tape measure. But when I saw this laser distance meter on sale for $20, reason went out the window. This article spot checks the meter and saw no error beyond the claimed +/- 1/16 inch from 2 inches to 8 feet. The claim is that it has this accuracy out to 130 feet but I have no way to test that.
