The only thing I can see is station one and station 2 required the widest area this allowed station 3 to share part of the upper cavity of station 2 having them situated as 12345in a straight line may have required a longer punch/die set than the configuration they came up with. You almost have to view it at its slowest speed or frame by frame to see what I am talking about

I've been reading a very old book about tool steels and heat treating. Apparently size and shape of the tool are huge consideration in the heat treating process. As well as economy of layout. Very interesting stuff goes into tool making and it is something that almost no one ever thinks about in "how did they make that?"

The handle's tapered shape is near certain justification why the order looks 'out of order', just compact diemaking.
To "piper184" comment almost no one ever thinks about in "how did they make that?", gave me a chuckle.
The people who have known me longest; have a phrase "made in a mold", while pointing out a molded object. Two guesses where they learned to identify processes of manufacture. . .
