    Precision Vise. Milling Vise. DIY 100% Homemade!

    This is my version for precision vise or milling vise. I made some simplifications in the project, to facilitate the manufacture. I created an alternative model for the fixation nut and changed the fixed jaw and the movable jaw. This project is a good exercise to train manufacturing skills and patience.

    - Drill 7.0 mm
    - Drill 8.0 mm
    - Drill 10.0 mm
    - Drill 14.0 mm
    - End mill 10.0 mm
    - Countersink diameter 19.0 mm
    - Male M6
    - Male M8
    - Plate 32.0 mm x 102.0 mm x 182.0 mm
    - Plate 32.0 mm x 62.0 mm x 102.0 mm
    - Plate 32.0 mm x 32.0 mm x 102.0 mm
    - Plate 18.0 mm x 27.0 mm x 37.0 mm
    - Round bar diameter 21.0 mm x 9.0 mm
    - Allen screw M6 x 30.0 mm
    - Allen screw M8 x 50.0 mm

    Approximate cost:
    - Plates and round bar (scrap): U$8.00
    - Screws: U$0.50
    - Labor: it's part of the fun!

    Approximate manufacturing time:
    - 3 days (with several interruptions)

    Thanks M4A for sharing an eminent build with video, pics and drawings!
    Still only monday - but perhaps TOTW?

    Clever solution to keep the fixation nut from twisting when tightening.
    What plate material did you use?
    -Not intending to be impertinent, but I wonder if you find the two M6 x30 allen bolts
    (in both shear and tension) being sufficient for holding the fixed jaw,
    or if it perhaps tends to lift upwards-backwards a tiny bit when clamping down hard?
    Some solutions use a perpendicular rear key in milled slots in the base & fixed jaw,
    thus the jaw stays put and the bolts (now just taking tension) only needs to hold the jaw down.

    Thanks DIYSwede for the comments! Answering your questions:

    - Material of the plate: by machining, probably SAE-1045 (I can't say for sure, I bought it in scrap. To have a notion, you would have to perform at least one chemical analysis). It certainly wasn't ASTM-A36.
    - Allen screws: easily found in hardware stores. If you do not have this length, buy longer and cut to adapt.
    - By my calculations, M6 is enough to keep the jaw fixed in place. If you want, you can replace it with M8.
    - As the screw fixation occurs at 45 degrees, the movable jaw tends to descend, which completely locks the part.
    - I will still manufacture tempered jaws, so there are some details to complete the project.
