Porsche 935 Turbo specially modified to provide slipstream to Frenchman Jean-Claude Rude in his failed 1979 attempt to break the bicycle speed record. While training for another shot at the record, Rude was fatally injured when he cycled alongside a fast train.

The pilot (on right) is Henri Pescarolo who won several times the 24 heures du Mans with Matra...

But more impressive, in 1962, the previous record by José Meiffret, who reached 204km/h at age of 48 !

He had made numerous attempts since the 50's, this man was persevering !

In this last video, we see him falling and being severely injured at Montlery in a record attempt. He suffered 4 skull fractures and he said he did not completely recovered, but he says in the video, "I have an objective, it's to reach 200km/h, and then I could get the surgery I need, because I still have a hole in the head ..."
