I found this video last week on the same subject, but I think a better drive mechanism. You have to turn close captions on, as I believe this channel is in Russian. My lathe does not have that gear to drive the spindle direct to the threading shaft, there's probably some change gear that can do that. I didn't see the detail as to how he connected the chain sprocket to the end of the threading shaft, making that to not break off or twist off would be interesting to see his method.

I use my rotary table on the mill for these polygonal cuts. But this is a clever way to do it on the lathe.
