This is why military flight simulators exist. They're full scale and exactly like the real thing in every aspect, but you can't hurt yourself or the Sim. Can you imagine if that was an MH60R Seahawk?

This comment is not entirely true, yes, there was a level of stupidity here, but the finding was that the aircraft was "not maintained", so a dysfunction in the equipment was contributory.
I wonder how much better the instructor would have fared under the circumstances.
