re insurance;
The girls truck [5.7 Hemi Ram, autotrans, 4wd] voluntarily had a company issued monitor that records (and transmits?) 'acceleration events' and other out of bounds vehicle use. Their pitch is good driver rate reduction.....
I drove it overnight to Illinois and back with a sheet metal shear during inclement weather, and no issues.
Returning too late for unload and still snowing, entered alley to driveway, and backed trailer in for the morning. Other cars going through alley packed snow into ice.
Next morning, there was minor wheel spinning as I maneuvered out.
Time for next quote comes around. The company penalized with a rate hike, based not only on those 'accelerations', but driving the hours between 1am and 4am.
A little phone battle ensued, they were adamant. But they lost a no claims and fairly long term customer.
This sprouted a wild hair for me. Shopped around, easily finding better rates. Called and cancelled policy on my vehicles, through another company. "But why?" they asked, "you have been with us 12 years!".
Yes, that's correct, I have. What incentive has that provided me to continue, without tickets or claims, other than what amounts to money wasted in premiums?
The reply did not rescue situation. "Oh well then, let's see what we can do about re-evaluating your policies!"
NO. You already had 11 years to do that.
I have minimal loyalty when it comes to business.
Sincerely,

My insurance company elected upon themselves to tack an extra $200.00 on my homeowner's policy for, get this, possible future hurricane damage in MY AREA, yeah right! I live 400 miles from the coast in the opposite direction any hurricane in history has ever traveled once it made landfall. Even if there ever happened to be a hurricane more than likely it would be a tornado instead though and it ripped the entire roof off of my house there probably wouldn't be a claim since I have a 10K deductible and can replace the entire roof rafters and decking for about what the deductible would be
