Programmed Tetris for play? This also is how packaging bricks stacking process to be more stable palletized, then more so once shrink wrapped. There are programs that analyze carton size into a 'cube' for squeeze fork lifts.

I worked for Nestle and they had a couple of palletising robots, there was a error where for no reason one robot started throwing cartons across the production line. it wasn't in the code as it was exactly the same code in its five mates. They called the engineers out from Italy who spent a week scratching their heads, I tried to convince them that robots are human and have a sense of humour. Funnily enough at the end of the week they were starting to believe me, they have still not found the reason to this day. If you sat and watched it nothing happened, if you turned your back for 10 mins boxes started to get thrown away. Just the occasional box which was thrown like a discrete flick of the wrist. It could palletise all day and suddenly on the next shift start throwing boxes. I suspected mains spikes but it was never proven, filters were installed but didn't make any difference. Robot was overhauled and stopped its erratic behaviour - for a week.

Great Story MeJasonT!! Personally I think most all machines have personality and if you maintain them and talk to 'em once in a while, nicely they'll perform well and give good service life. That one definitely was sensitive to someones Negative Waves...probably Moriarty!
