    Is this to test the integrity of the wrapped content on the pallet, or is there some other value I am not seeing?

    I believe Metalmuncher is correct. I think they're trying to simulate the hazards of the shipping process. Another option would be that they're shaking it to level out the contents, normalize spacing, remove air pockets, etc.

    An interesting related product is this tilt indicator. It's affixed to pallets or large shipping containers to record tilting in transport.

    It's showing the strength of the wrapping. MSK Covertech makes palletizers and wrappers. The tilt indicator is also cool. Check some of the other ones at Uline. Some of the shock indicators where used on Mythbusters. https://www.uline.com/Cls_10/Damage-...E&gclsrc=aw.ds
