Overhead bag lifting device - GIF

Has anyone seen this before? Some sort of lift truck? I agree that it solves the most difficult part of lifting up a heavy bag.

But it seems like there's a trolly or cart missing from this process. You could almost make one by removing some tubing and wheels from the device.

And...a child? Too short to carry the bag on his shoulders, so it compresses his head?

Nope. Never witnessed anything like that. Must be one of those countries where they use the flat part on the top of their heads like the bed of an F150. Probably wouldn't be that much market for such a machine here.

I wonder how far they are caring the load. It seems they already have the start of a pretty good conveyor system.

I know it is derogatory, but in many of the countries I have visited and worked in, folks didn't call the labors flat heads for no reason.
The other side of that note. Often people carrying the loads on the tops of their heads would prove to be more efficient than trying to transport by vehicle. especially if beast of burden were not at hand, and even if they had burros, the handler would carry cargo on their heads along with their beasts.

It would work even to carry on your shoulder. Which I have often done, lifting a 50# bag takes some effort

IT often worries what I call the kids, at our local hardware store where we buy our dog food. every month we buy 3 50lb bags of dog food I'll grab on and toss it on one shoulder then grab another and with some difficulty having to use only one arm heft it on my other shoulder and head for the counter There is always one of them who wants to take one of the bags and carry it to my truck but I tell them just open the dang door and go get the other bag. Philip the store owner tells them you never want to argue with older men they grew up having to carry 2 100 lb bags of feed, back when that was the normal size. it really gets them when my 110 lb wife walks to the counter with a bag of dog food in her arms. Watching those kids 'guys in their 20s' carry a bag is comical though. not enough sense to put them on their shoulders.

Still not great, but better than the last one. These guys are one step away from forming a dance trio.

Those guys have an easy job.

Saw a similar “dance” several years ago in the Dominican Republic. Picture this happening. Five guys + 1 on the trailer. 40’ flatbed overloaded with 100 (not 94) pound paper cement sacks. A couple of the guys had a folded rag on their head. HOT day, sweat dripping from them. One guy on the trailer sliding a sack off on to each guy. Not easy just off the trailer and down onto a head. The guys knees almost buckle as the 100 pounds lands on them. A big puff of cement dust escapes each bag as it lands along with the dust that had already leaked out during the loading and transport. The cement dust caked on the men as it stuck to their sweat. Then they have to walk about 100 feet to enter the storage building. The truck could not get any closer on the narrow street. Stack the bag. Go back for another. I figured it would take 5 guys 80 trips to unload 40,000 pounds of of cement. AND they had to walk about 3 miles. Half of those 3 with cement on their head!!!’

It hurt me to see that, but I know those Guy were happy to have work that day. So many people have no idea what real work is like. Whenever I catch myself thinking, “this is hard”, remembering that day jerks me back to reality.
