Like me, did you wonder: where is it walking to? The answer is: it is walking among different oil drilling sites that are near to each other. AFAIK it's just simpler to incorporate a walking mechanism into the drilling rig as opposed to disassembling it just to re-assemble it 100 yards away.

No Ididn't wonder where it was going since we used to move them short distances up to 10 miles by only laying the derrick and depending on the size of the rig sometimes having to remove the draw works and power head. For the 100 to 300 yard moves they would just put a couple of cats in font to pull and a couple behind to push
Never try to tell me it can't be done

Wow,I worked on LandBased Oil-Rigs for 35 years starting out on Box-on-Box subbases then the Truck mounted tele-doubles then the Sling-Shot subbases.Last Rigs were on a Skid system with a walking beam. But nothing as Sweet as this Beauty.Saves a Lot of Work & Trouble.Makes you Wonder about the "Good Ol Days"Were We Being Punished? No more Busting your Ass & Breaking your Back Rigging up and then go on a short change shift to drill rat-hole & mouse hole. Now they have the Conductor Pipe already in place plus the Cellar.I did'nt miss digging the cellar by pick & shovel. You've come a Long Way Baby!
