    Nuclear fuel pellets - photo

Gloved hands holding life-sized models of nuclear fuel pellets with their injection rod. Each pellet can produce the same amount of energy as 3 tons of coal. The pellets are designed for use in fast breeder nuclear reactors.

I remember reading about a home sized reactor generator from Pop Sci. back in the 1960s the pellets were to be ceramic coated and use in such small quantities it would have been impossible for a meltdown. The design came out of Germany there was even mention of how an automobile could be made to be nuclear powered. This obviously brought out the fearmongers from every direction. If it hadn't been for them and lobbyist for more conventional power sources such as coal oil and gas, who knows by now much of the over stressed grid and other concerns about the environment might not even exist. There have been nuclear powered things for 60 years
