    Okapi's Tools

    Newbie from chocolate country ;-)

    Hello,

I'm an independent worker, my principal activity is the repair of antiques and the construction of special tools on demand.

As I was often looking the very interesting realizations of the members when searching an idea for solving the problem of the day, I've make my registration today, it can be not very interesting to put plans of my tools, they are so specialized and very often used just one time to make a repair, but I can give some advice and ideas about repair of organic material like Ivory, tortoiseshell, horn, what I'm using daily(with all CITES authorizations).

Thanks a lot for the ideas and explanations you put on the web !

I was going to post my own introduction thread just barely, but Okapi says it better than I ever could.

I'm also new here, but from more of a back country than a chocolate country! Thank you for sharing all the interesting discussions and ideas. I've recently gotten into homemade tools, so this forum is a bit of a revelation to me.

I look forward to joining this community fully.

Also, Okapi: Do share some of your work - I would love to see photos of what you work on and how you do it. Your craft sounds very interesting.

    No problem JReger.
If you want to look some ivory work, here is a *replica* made for the father of a friend, normally I don't make that, because it's a fake, but here it is for an aged amateur who has the dog since decades.

    Hi Okapi & JReger,

    Welcome to both of you!

Sounds like some very interesting craft work. All homemade tools are interesting and, undoubtedly, of interest to someone, somewhere. Please feel free to post even the one-offs.

Any tools you'd like to share should be posted directly in our Homemade Tools subform. They'll be added to the database, as well as to the appropriate builder's page on the site.

    Ken
