    New today

Just found this site today. I am retired military and 69 so have plenty of time for projects. Have worked as mechanic, both cars and motorcycles for years. Now adays I just thinker in the garage trying to find projects.

I have lots of wood working tooling but mainly stick to metal. Like to rebuild and customize air guns. Always looking for new projects, right now it's finding a bench top metal mill to go along with my old '37 Craftsman 12" metal lathe.

I am cheap according to the wife so yard sale tool finds are my favorite.

    Hi Bobbyjim,

Welcome - glad to have you here!

Cars, bikes, air guns, and machining gear? Sounds about right to me!

Let's see some pics of that '37 Craftsman lathe…

OK, here is a photo of the lathe. Never got around to making it pretty but it's not there for looks. All it would need is some paint. Got it from an 90 year old ex GE machinist. Came with every accessory you could think of. Chucks, drills, face plate, dial indicators, bits, literly to much to list.

It was plug and play. The old guy held a gun to my head and demanded $300.00, what could I do but pay.

Yardsailing today found a 12" Delta bench drill press in working condition. Just normal Florida surface rust. It's the one with a crank and swivel table, made in '91 so it's better than the new ones. Weighs in at over 80 lbs so it has some heft. That's the new project for now. Cost me $15.00, did I say my wife says I'm cheap????
