My name is caleb. I'm from NC and am currently a diesel mechanic. I will try and be of some use to the forum by contributing any ideas I've had, but I do feel that I will be a "lurker". After seeing some of the ideas that folks have come up with on this site I can't help but feel like an idiot. Anyway-I know how to use the search button, and have a good knowledge of forum rules.

Hello Caleb. Welcome to the forums! You're not alone in feeling like an idiot when it comes to many of the builds here.

    Hi Caleb,

    Welcome!

I've always believed that we all have something to learn from each other and that each individual, from the newest hobbyist to the most experienced professional, has seen and learned something of value for himself and the rest of us, if only he can identify and communicate it. So don't be shy; have at it!

Everyone's got a build list - what's next on yours?

Thanks for the replies. This seems like a very supportive forum compared to others I have joined. I am interested in building some tools and equipment to expand my area of work I do at my shop.

The dream list includes (but not limited to)
    -Powdercoating oven
    -Hot tank for engine cleaning
-Ultrasonic cleaner for engines and transmissions
    -parts washers
-STEAM CLEANER-------(Had one of these at my old job and it worked wonders on greasy engines)
-....and of course the list is ever growing.

I will try to post some of the tools I have fabricated thus far so I can be of some use to this site. Im glad I stumbled across this forum. Its good to know there is a site dedicated for DIY guys who are able to create tools and equipment that work just as well as the name brand products without having to drop hundreds if not thousands of dollars.

    That's a great list.

If a regular part of your day is cleaning greasy engines, I've seen wonders done with glass beads in a sandblasting cabinet. The grimiest old parts will turn out looking as though they were cast yesterday. Cool stuff.
