    New Member Introduction

Hi members. My name is Fred Townroe. I am a retired pharmacist ( how I pay for this great hobby) but have been a DIY'er and home shop nut for as long as I can remember. My major emphasis today is metalworking, but have also done a fair amount of Woodworking in the past mostly building cabinets, drawers, and boxes for my tools. The two hobbies really feed each other. My only formal Machinist training is with the Army, the rest is learned from the multitude of talented individuals who put up their wonderful videos on U-Tube. This looks like a fantastic group since my favorite pastime is building tools to make other things better.

    Hi Fred,

Welcome - glad to have you here!

A machining, woodworking, and metalworking background sounds like the perfect combination of skills and experience. What sort of tools are you building currently?

I am currently looking at two different designs for wire benders. One is from Tom Lipton and the one I like better is from Model Engineer's Workshop. Unfortunately , the MEW project drawings are in Autodesk format and I am struggling to get them to print in readable format. I will probably start with Tom Lipton's project while I sort out the MEW issue.

Hello Fred, there are plenty of woodworkers, as well metalworkers, here. I'm sure you'll feel right at home.
