Long time VW air cooled fanatic. I repair, rebuild, modify VW air cooled engines and have done so for over 40 years.
I have a small shop with a Logan 10" lathe, Bridgeport variable speed vertical mill with DRO also an old Powermatic drill press, old souix valve seat grinder and an old Black and Decker dry valve grinder. I have built many custom tools to save these old engines. I collect a sizeable collection of scrap aluminum engine parts I would like to be able to melt for recycle.
The heads for example, have steel valve seats and studs that I would not have to remove if I could melt the entire head.
Any ideas on a smelter I could make that could take a VW head that is about 12" x 6" x 8" and melt it down? I've got many scrap ones I hate to take them to the scrap yard without separating the steel from them.
Thanks in advance for the help.
