Hi to all from California. My name is Manny Monroy from southern California in a small town called La Puente. I was turned onto this website by a lead from looking at Randt Richards in the Shop. If you have not yet check out his channel on Youtube. He has alot of good videos on maching projects. I made one of his designs of the chuck wrenches he made from SS.
I have a 14x30 Wilton lathe and just picked up a Grizzly 1992 year knee milling machine and am still putting it thru the test. I have been knoledgeable in maching metal since the 7th grade but never did it for a living. I enjoy making my own tools, repairs to the house and used to work on all the cars I owned before the aches and pains came my way. I watch all the other popular machining community guys like Tom Lipton, Adam Booth, Keith Fenner, James Kilroy, Stan Z (long last name sorry), Doubleboost and many others. sorry if I missed your name. I am retired by force due to injuries and other circumstances but try to keep active doing my Hobbies and I go bowling too.
I did work for LA County Road Dept and then was forced to go into Computer Drafting in 1986 using Autocad and now still draw with Inventor a 3d program. Speaking of that if you are a student you can get a free license for 3 years from Autodesk. Also you can get a 1 year subscription to Solid works for $20.00 USD if you are a Veteran !!! Wow I couldn't beleive it.
So I say Hi to all the members and hope to be accepted into this website/Forum.
Thanks
Manny
