Keeping the stock moving is key. I have a unique advantage since I recently built my 12" disc sander using a 2.5 h.p. treadmill motor and am able to change motor rotation and speed when needed.

Very interesting...do you have the project posted on this website? I'd love to see what you did. Yeah...you can't stop for a second. You really have to train yourself to do it right.
Can't think of one sander I've used that was CCW rotation as the video...... but the sliding motion is key to wide material.
The effect is visualized imagining a vertical belt sander, if it ran upward.
