It's interesting how things get to a very advanced stage before becoming obsolete. Cassettes and players were very good with the different tape types and advanced recorders. Then digital audio tape came along just before digital CDs. Digital audio tape was short lived because CDs came out shortly after and with the disadvantages of tape, nobody wanted it.VHS video recorders and players reached an advanced state before video discs came along and then DVD came along. Then came BluRay but so far hasn't caused DVDs to disappear. I think the 12" video discs were an RCA thing. I knew a guy who bought one and obviously the movie selection was not so good.
Stupid is forever, ignorance can be fixed.
