Good call Dave white! Searching on boiler rappers definitely brings up some similarly looking results.

Looks like Dave and TM51 are both correct. Rotary kilns use a similar technique though in the case of a cement kiln there are usually large heavy chains welded inside the drum as it rotates the chains called clinker chains clank against the inside as it rotates
Never try to tell me it can't be done

Mine has clinker and clanker chains; lovely two-part harmony. Intended adding bongers and dongers for a non stop "Anvil Chorus", but that's just silly.
New project is figuring how to infect rappers with boils.
Guy in shop listens to a lame country music station, I mean HORRIBLE! Endless over-use of wallering slide and pedal steel guitars.
I ask him when someone is going to euthanize the alley cats...

Country music and Rock 7 roll both died decades ago. Had some pretty good tunes come out of both up until around mid 70's by 1980 the only thing worth listening to was 300 years old long hair classical stuff. I have no idea what they have today since I haven't owned anything with a functioning radio in it for longer than I can remember. I did however install something that is supposed to pass for a radio in my 93 ford 1 ton about 2 years ago. it had GPS and a port to plug in a TV antenna go figure who in their right mind would want to have a TV on while driving. I don't turn on the GPS because it showed my speed and the wife doesn't need to know how fast I'm driving. so the thing never gets switched on. Since the only thing on AM any more is talking heads who know less about what is going on than I do and I could care less as long as it is not going on in the county I live in.
But machines making clinking clanking thumping whirling banging thruming sounds would be far better music than I've heard in the past 30 years
