True, original US made Kant Twist are well named, any I've seen bent were subject to severe side-load or other non-parallel faces (not plane of jaw swivel). The stampings I'd believe are heat treated, not low 10xx grade material, possibly 1090 or so.
Imported versions are definitely not the grade of those.
