The only time I threw an axle was at peak finishing time (600 metres from home) at the local public high school & private primary school and it wasn't in a vehicle. It occurred due to some electric brake failure in my trailer (carrying 2 tractors) and one side locked up & other didn't work. I skull dragged the trailer through all the chaos of kids running everywhere, mothers screaming, panic, annoyed traffic folk etc. I parked down a side street between the two schools. When the school rush finished I unloaded the tractors (tricky as the trailer was a overrider tilt one). used rear links to lift trailer & chained axle back to approx position (thank god only one axle went awry) & proceeded home for repairs. A walk back to retrieve one tractor at a time. Very embarrassing happening where it did and at that time when everyone was in a rush to the beach, shops, back to work etc. Everyone knew where I lived as my truck & trailer were always parked on the nature strip.
Very Funny now!
Cheers & thanks for posting Jon.
