Nice little shovel, Made almost the same size and shape of the German WWII straight entrenching tool except with the folding head.
The US Army entrenching tools up until 1975 looked like this I have several that I keep stored in my vehicles and on my tractors.

After 1975 the Army adopted this piece of junk. Its only advantages were, it was lighter and more compact. Great lessening a soldier's carry burden, but no longer of much use for any hard digging, and almost useless as a personal hand to hand combat weapon.

Yep, newer ones are junk. I use one that I acquired as a kid that is dated 1943.
