I think that VW and the gooseneck caravan was featured in Popular Mechanics about 30 years ago.

This was my camper for 10 years:
All Plywood, came apart into 15 panels that stored in the corner of the garage. Put 24K miles on it, two different trucks. Gave it to a friend.
